About Me

My photo
I am wide open, but very closed up sometimes. I enjoy the company of love ones (family, friends, companions). I like to write, read, sing, laugh, dance, and chill. I want to find the true meaning of it all. Well, life is what I mean. I am a friend to many, and I have a few friends. There is so much to me. I am not a complex puzzle of 1,003 pieces, but there is more to me than what the eye sees.

Food For Thought

If I am hurt, please do not laugh at me. If you don't and reach your hand
out to lift me up, that makes this inhumane world more humane for me. If I cry,
please don't disregard my tears. It may just be the door opener to you
getting to know your TRUE self.

The Day After the Storm

I am tired but I enjoyed the other day. I got up early and went to the bank and grocery shopping. Have you ever been craving down home cooking? I mean like that bomb macaroni and cheese, turkey wings, and collard greens. As I cruised down the aisles to collect the items for what my older sis calls "celebration food", I smiled on the inside and out. It was like a drug I had been waiting on for a long time...ok maybe I am overdoing it (O-d-in), but hey I am being honest. :-) So then I buy the food from two grocery stores, Publix and Kroger. The whole entire time while I am shopping, I am also hoping that my dog, Prince, does not turn my apartment into a zoo. I left him out to see how he can handle freedom, because Prince + crate = psycho. Oh yes!

So then when I get home, I realize I have my work cut out for me. I wanted to grade papers, wash clothes, and cook dinner. Then on top of that, my mom says she and my baby sis are coming over. So the mild junkiness in my apartment has elevated into an eye sore. So now I have to clean up the den where I prowl...LOL. Seriously it needed to be cleaned. It was getting out of control for me. I cook and clean. Grade cheese, aching muscles in my arm as if I have been working on the railroad like John Henry. But who understands...nobody but the cheese. Not even Prince offered to grade the sharp cheese which was the toughest. O-C (out of control).

So my mom and baby sis shows up and only the collard greens and macaroni are finished. My mom is like why, why, yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. I know I should have put those turkey wings in two hours ago. But it is truly the stove's fault...lol. I plead the 5th. My fiance gets to the house and we enjoy the turkey wings because my family had to leave because of school in the morning. We ate, he cleaned, then we watched "The Orphan." Totally disturbing movie...but hey check it out. I lain in the bed and prayed that the phone tree would be in effect, but the sky does not seem to cry twice the same amount of water or time. It was great while it lasted but the storm is truly over.

The Engagement

"So how do you plan on spending the rest of your life?" he says. I look at the computer screen and say, "Boy if you don't leave me alone. I have to grade all of these papers." He says with a more serious tone, "Naw seriously, what do you have planned for the rest of your life? Look." I turn around and bam, there it is. He is on one knee with a ring box and guess what is in it. A fruit loop. Naw jk. It was a diamond ring. So beautiful and quite immaculate if you ask me. He made me feel more special than when I got my hair relaxed for the first time. LOL. On a serious note, he made me realize how much of jewel I am and that God chose him just for me. I will write more later. I just wanted to share my initial emotions. In conclusion, don't overdo it all the time...that does not give you room to relax. :-)

Kanye West and Taylor Swift: VMA 2009

It's amazing, which is one line in his song and it also describes his temperament. How and when are the wild things that are done by one okay against another? Especially when they demonstrate such awesome and caring qualities on one hand and then a complete 180 on the other. Before that night I truly did not know about Taylor Swift's genre of music, but Kanye West is all to familiar. He is abrasive, cocky, and unreal at times. The question that I would love an answer to is, why put yourself on the line for a female that is not even your lady? Beyonce looked as though she was miffed by his behavior and speechless Taylor's situation was clearly confirmation that we as a people need to realize that the world does not stop for us and begin rotating again when we snap our fingers. A scripture that resonates through my mind is that "gifts come without repentance." You do not have to live right to be a singer, rapper, dancer, or any gift in this world. Although we have freedom in America, it has unwritten stipulations. Freedom is the not the right to do what you want to do whenever we want to do it, but the ability to do what we ought to do. When we do things in life, we must question our motive. "Was it to heal or kill another's soul/spirit, or build them up?" Then you must ask if you have a selfish gain to attain. Interesting. In closing, I want to remind everyone that life is what you make it or what you fake it to be. You are free to choose which one you want.
